We celebrated the centennial of the end of WWI on 11 November 2018 by running a “Peace Train”. The station and carriages were decorated with flags and bunting, and passengers dressed in costume of the era, kindly lent by Waihi Drama Society. The trip was additional to our normal weekend schedule, starting from Waihi at 8:15am, running down to Waikino and returning for 9:30am to allow passengers to take part in other memorial events in Waihi.
Lest we forget.
Due to the COVID-19 Alert Level to 4, as at Wednesday, 25 March 2020, we will be closing all railway activities, including our overnight parking facility and shop. This will be for an initial four week period. We ask everyone to do their part to help minimise the spread of the virus.
