Work continues on the restoration of Goldfields Railway’s wooden Brake Van.
Our R&M Team has added a sub-floor, reinstalled the manual brake control wheel, fitting new steps and electrical wiring and getting the exterior of the 1933-era wagon ready for re-cladding.
The van’s interior will need to be soda blasted and resealed, due to the use of lead paint in the past. Hopefully, this will be done early in 2020. A set of sliding side doors will need to be fabricated and installed, along with a number of other small items.
The R&M Team is pleased with the progress made so far and looks forward to seeing the project to its completion. It will make an excellent addition to the railway’s fleet and a great attraction for visitors.
We're back to seven-day rail operation now that NZ is at Alert Level 1.
We ask everyone to continue to work hard to beat COVID-19.
