Work continues on the restoration of Goldfields Railway’s wooden Brake Van.
Our R&M Team has added a sub-floor, reinstalled the manual brake control wheel, fitting new steps and electrical wiring and getting the exterior of the 1933-era wagon ready for re-cladding.
The van’s interior will need to be soda blasted and resealed, due to the use of lead paint in the past. Hopefully, this will be done early in 2020. A set of sliding side doors will need to be fabricated and installed, along with a number of other small items.
The R&M Team is pleased with the progress made so far and looks forward to seeing the project to its completion. It will make an excellent addition to the railway’s fleet and a great attraction for visitors.
Due to the COVID-19 Alert Level to 4, as at Wednesday, 25 March 2020, we will be closing all railway activities, including our overnight parking facility and shop. This will be for an initial four week period. We ask everyone to do their part to help minimise the spread of the virus.
