We are looking for some Ex NZR Loco Drivers who may be interested in volunteering to drive our DBR Locomotives.
We are also looking for people interested in volunteering to be Guards
on our Trains, full training is provided.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The last trip from Waikino is only a ONE-WAY trip back to Waihi.

  • Please be at the stations 30 minutes before departure.

  • Online Bookings departing from Waikino, tickets will be sent down to Waikino Station with the Guard. Payment to be made at Waihi Station upon arrival.

  • Online Bookings departing Waihi Station to pay when picking up tickets at Waihi.

What about my dog?

All service dogs (i.e. guide dogs for visually impaired, Assistance Dogs etc) that wear a jacket denoting what type of recognised service dog they are, are allowed on both the inside and outside carriages. All other dogs MUST be on a leash at all times and remain on the open carriage.

  • Education group concessions are available.

  • Wheelchair facilities can be requested, with a special passenger car available with at least two days' notice via phone or email please note this must be made via a seperate email and not an online booking - https://www.waihirail.co.nz/contact/ .

  • All our passenger cars and facilities are smoke free.

  • Dogs welcome; must be on a lead.
