Goldfields Railway in Waihi is seeking a retired automotive spray painter.

  • The Mission: Repaint an historic 1960s diesel locomotive.
  • The Goal: Restore a piece of New Zealand rail heritage.
  • The Location: Goldfields Railway workshop in Waihi.
  • The Timeline: Flexible hours to suit your schedule.

 

🛠️ What You Will Do

  • Prepare metal surfaces for painting.
  • Apply primer and topcoat layers.
  • Restore original livery colour schemes.
  • Share trade skills with interested volunteers.

 

🎯 Who We Are Looking For

  • Retired professional automotive spray painter.
  • Experience with heavy vehicles or large machinery.
  • Knowledge of surface prep and rust treatment.
  • Passion for mechanical restoration and heritage.
  • Strong commitment to workshop safety standards.
